‘Inventing the Greater Paris Metropolis’ is a call for innovative urban projects, co-organised with the French Government and the Société du Grand Paris, the first edition of which was a great success. Launched in October 2016, the first call for projects drew a massive response. In several months, 420 candidacies were received. These came from groups composed of architects, developers and investors, amongst which there were several hundred innovative start-ups, non-profit organisations and SMEs. On 18th October last year, 51 winning projects were unveiled.
This process has created an unrivalled leverage effect for the metropolitan area, both in terms of financial investment and sq m developed. It also constitutes a new mode of urban production, allowing the implementation of ambitious projects to be accelerated. Given the success of the first edition, Patrick Ollier, President of the Grand Paris Metropole has decided to launch a new edition of this call for innovative urban projects. The candidate sites will be unveiled at MIPIM and the consultation will take place between April 2018 and May 2019.
