United Grand Paris on Olympic form at MIPIM 2018
From March 13 to 16, the United Grand Paris pavilion was the talking point of the MIPIM show.
Let’s look back over the highlights of the Paris Region’s participation at the largest international trade show for professionals in the real estate industry.
The number of visitors to the United Grand Paris pavilion at MIPIM was outstanding. More than 4000 trade professionals from 69 countries looked at exhibits per day, studied displays and met with exhibitors and their partners. Investors saw that under the United Grand Paris banner stands a unified territory working together on ambitious shared projects and goals.
The United Grand Paris pavilion was inaugurated Tuesday March 13 by Valérie Pécresse, president of Paris Region, accompanied by Patrick Ollier, president of the Greater Paris Metropolis, and Jacques Mézard, minister for Territorial Cohesion. She summarized the project by stating, “United we show that we form a favourable ecosystem for investors. The message is clear: Paris is the place to be for business and quality lifestyle.”
The 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games set the tone for the Pavilion with an athletic track leading the way into the zone. On the occasion of the conference which showed Paris 2024 as a booster of the urban transformation of the Paris Region, Nicolas Ferrand, managing director of Solideo, an agency charged with delivering equipment for the Olympic and Paralympic games, reminded participants that “the Paris 2024 games are both signal and leverage for development projects.”
MIPIM was an opportunity to showcase how the use of urban space is being reinvented. Indeed March 14, Anne Hidalgo presented the Reinventing Cities project involving 19 cities worldwide. Then on March 15, Patrick Ollier, president Métropole du Grand Paris, unveiled the 44 sites of the second round in the architectural competition Inventing the Greater Paris Metropolis.
The commercial property market in Paris Region is the most dynamic in Europe, with development booming due to the Grand Paris Express transport project and the level of innovation in sustainable construction. For example, the logistics project Chapelle, which is developed by Sogaris International and won the MIPIM Award, will contribute to the improvement of carbon-free mobility.
The exhibitors are determined to continue working together “faster, higher, stronger” and will share the progress of their projects with you in Cannes next year at MIPIM 2019.
